Lunch-time lectures are held every spring focusing on the heritage and culture of Cork. Venues include Crawford Art Gallery and the Exhibition Centre, St. Peter’s Church, North Main Street (formerly the Vision Centre).
It’s a free event, and all are welcome. Lecture topics include music, song, literature, history, archaeology, and art of the city and surrounding areas.
2017 lectures were: Kevin N. Power: The Old Opera House, My Second Home; James McKeon: The Life & Times of Frank O’Connor; Pat Gunn,: The Life and Death of Terence MacSwiney; John Spillane: John will chat about the exciting globetrotting life he has led as a performing and recording artist and play a selection of some of the very popular old and new material from his songbook in his own quintessential Cork style that has won him legions of fans throughout the world.
In 2017 the lecture series focused on the theme of A Week of Women in the Cork City Library Education, Music, Politics, Science and changing Cultural Values are some of the topics that will be discussed.
